A cheque you received
A cheque for $1,250.00 dated 22 October 2026 becomes a "Deposit cheque" reminder with the amount and the bank, set for the time you choose.

Post-dated cheques
A post-dated cheque cannot be deposited before the date written on it. Invited reads that date, so the reminder arrives when the cheque can actually be deposited, not before.

How long is a cheque valid?
It depends on where you are. In India, cheques are valid for 3 months from the date written on them. In the United States, banks are not required to honour a cheque that is more than 6 months old. In the UK and Canada, cheques are commonly treated as out of date after 6 months. In Australia, a cheque is generally considered stale after 15 months. Your bank may apply its own rules, so check with it when in doubt.
The date that counts is the date written on the cheque, not the day you received it. A cheque that sat in an envelope for weeks has less time left than it seems. Use our cheque validity calculator to see the last date for any cheque.
Depositing early also helps if something goes wrong. If a cheque bounces, you find out while there is still time to ask the payer for a new one.
