Getting the most from a warranty
Many manufacturer warranties last 1 or 2 years from the date of purchase. In the European Union, sellers must also provide a legal guarantee of at least 2 years for goods. Rules differ by country and product, so check your paperwork.
Check your items a few weeks before the warranty ends. Small faults like a noisy fan or a weak battery are easier to claim for while the warranty is still valid. A reminder 2 days before is a last call; add a manual reminder a month earlier if you want time to test things.
